Last January 2020, Pinterest launched Pinterest Trends, a new tool that aims to help businesses to determine which keywords work best in a particular month. Pinterest Trends will give you a bird’s eye view of the top US, UK and Canada search terms in the past 12 months and have an idea when a top search reaches its peak so you can have a better understanding of what content will perform best on Pinterest in a particular month.

Right now, there are more than 320 people around the world that use Pinterest to get inspiration and plan their purchases. Over 200 billion ideas have been saved over 4 billion board and what it means to eCommerce businesses is that with the help of this new Pinterest tool, it will help you to get clear insights and early signals of what consumers will like on a particular day and time as the data suggests.

I was glad that I was able to see Pinterest trends in action because:

  • This can help us to know when to share our content. So if you are, let’s say, you are selling souvenirs for Halloween, Pinterest trends help you when you should start pinning your content.
  • This can help us to write the best pin and board descriptions because it will not only be able to see popular and related keywords, it will also enable you to browse pins that are popular based on your searched term.
  • This can help you to plan your content calendar and see which types of pins should you be pinning 45 days prior to the events.

Apart from these top three reasons why we should all be excited about this trend tool is that Pinterest trends can help your brand to have a deeper understanding of your customer’s behavior and help you to decide how much budget you are going to use for a particular campaign if you are advertising on the Pinterest platform. More so, it will validate your assumptions and may help you to come up with a list of keywords that you can use to target the right audience for your product.
